Privacy Policy

App Name: BackYard Ultra Timer

Effective Date: December 14, 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how FellCode ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses information about you when you use our mobile application, BackYard Ultra Timer (the "Service"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for EU/EEA/UK users and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) for US users.

1. Data Collection and Processing

We adopt a "data minimization" approach. We process data primarily locally on your device.

A. Data Processed Locally (On-Device)

The core functionality of the Service relies on data that resides solely on your device. We do not transmit this data to our servers.

Race Data: Including start times, number of laps completed (completedLaps), current round status, and manually adjusted timer settings.

Settings: Preferences such as 12h/24h clock format and manual time adjustments.

State Data: Temporary data stored in the application's memory to maintain the timer state during use.

B. Data Collected Automatically (Third-Party Services)

To maintain the Service, process payments, and improve stability, we utilize third-party services provided by Google.

1. Google Play Billing (Payments)

Data Collected: When you purchase the "Premium Unlock" (one-time purchase), Google processes your payment information. We receive a transaction receipt (purchase token) to verify that the payment was successful.

Our Access: We do not have access to, nor do we store, your credit card number, bank account details, or billing address. This information is secured by Google.

Purpose: To fulfill our contract with you by unlocking the full version of the application after the free trial period.

2. Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics

Data Collected:

Device Information: Model, operating system version, and manufacturer.

Usage Data: Events such as app_open, round_completed, and purchase_screen_viewed.

Crash Reports: Technical logs (stack traces) generated if the application crashes.

Location Data: Approximate location derived from your IP address (country/city level) to analyze our user base distribution. We do not track your precise GPS location.

Purpose: To identify bugs, improve application performance, and understand how the Service is used (Legitimate Interest).

2. Legal Basis for Processing (EEA & UK)

Under the GDPR, we process your personal data based on the following legal grounds:

Performance of a Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)): Processing payment receipts to unlock the Premium features you have purchased.

Legitimate Interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): Using Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to ensure the security, stability, and improvement of the Service.

Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): For any optional data collection not strictly necessary for the Service (currently not applicable as we do not use optional tracking).

3. Data Retention

Local Data: Race data remains on your device until you uninstall the Application or clear its data via device settings.

Analytics Data: User-level data in Firebase is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted or aggregated.

Purchase Records: Transaction receipts are retained by Google in accordance with tax and accounting laws.

4. International Data Transfers

Our Service utilizes Google Firebase, which may process data on servers located in the United States.

Safeguards: Transfers of personal data from the EEA/UK to the US are protected under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF) (where applicable) or generally utilize Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission, ensuring your data receives an equivalent level of protection.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (EU, UK, California), you have specific rights regarding your data:

Right to Access: You can request information about the data we hold (primarily handled via Google Play).

Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): You can delete the Application to remove local data. For deletion of purchase history, please contact Google Play Support.

Right to Opt-Out: You may opt-out of analytics tracking via your device settings (e.g., Android Settings > Google > Ads > Delete advertising ID).

CCPA Rights (California): We do not "sell" your personal data as defined by the CCPA. You have the right to request disclosure of data collection categories.

6. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for individuals under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child without parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information.
