PRIVACY POLICY
Application Name: Backyard Ultra Timer
Developer: FellCode
Last Updated: December 14, 2025
This Privacy Policy ("Policy") explains how FellCode ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Backyard Ultra Timer mobile application ("Service").
We are committed to data minimization. Unlike many fitness applications, we do not require user registration, we do not store your data on our servers, and we do not track your precise GPS location.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the limited amount of data necessary to ensure the Service functions correctly and to allow us to improve the application's stability.
A. Information You Process Locally
The Service is designed as a local utility. The following data involves your input but remains on your device:
Timer Settings: Start times (e.g., manual start at "08:00") and manual time adjustments.
Race Progress: The number of loops completed (currentRound) and elapsed time.
Storage: This data is stored in your device's temporary memory. We do not transmit or save this data to any cloud server. If you uninstall the app, this progress data is permanently deleted.
B. Automatically Collected Information (Analytics)
To maintain the app and fix bugs, we use Google Firebase, a third-party service, to collect anonymous usage data. This collection happens automatically when you use the Service.
Device Information: Model, operating system version (e.g., Android 14), and screen orientation.
Usage Data: Anonymized interactions, such as which screens you view (FrontYard vs. BackYard) and how often specific buttons (e.g., "Next Lap") are pressed.
Crash Logs: Via Firebase Crashlytics, we receive technical reports if the app crashes. These reports include the state of the app at the time of the error but do not identify you personally.
Approximate Location: We derive a coarse location (Country/Region level) from your IP address to analyze where our users are located globally. We do not collect precise GPS coordinates or street-level data.
C. Payment Information
The Service utilizes a "Freemium" model with a one-time purchase option ("Premium Unlock").
Transaction Handling: All financial transactions are processed securely and directly by Google Play. FellCode does not access, store, or transmit your credit card numbers or billing address.
Purchase Verification: We receive an anonymous digital receipt (token) from Google Play to verify that you have purchased the Premium Unlock. This allows you to restore your purchase if you reinstall the app.
2. Purposes of Data Processing
We use the collected information for specific, limited purposes:
Core Functionality: To run the timers and enforce the 3-round trial limitation logic.
App Improvement: To analyze aggregate user behavior (e.g., "Do most users prefer the 12h or 24h clock?") using Firebase Analytics.
Technical Stability: To diagnose and repair software crashes.
Legal & Tax Compliance: To determine applicable tax rates and legal terms based on your region (derived from approximate location).
3. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with data brokers or advertising networks for behavioral profiling. Data is shared only with the following service providers essential to the app's operation:
Provider
Service
Data Accessed
Google Firebase
Analytics & Crash Reporting
Anonymous Device IDs, Usage Events, IP Address
Google Play
Payment Processing
Payment Tokens, Order IDs
These providers process data according to their own privacy policies and are contractually restricted from using your data for other purposes.
4. International Data Transfers
The Service is operated globally. If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), note that the anonymous analytics data collected by Google Firebase may be transferred to and processed in the United States. Google utilizes Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and other mechanisms to ensure such transfers comply with GDPR.
5. Your Rights (EEA, California, and International)
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your digital data:
Right to Opt-Out: You can opt-out of Analytics collection by adjusting your device settings (e.g., Android "Usage & Diagnostics" or "Advertising ID" reset).
Right to Access/Delete: Since we do not have user accounts and do not link data to your name or email, we generally cannot identify your specific data in our anonymous logs to provide a copy or delete it. However, resetting your device's Advertising ID dissociates your device from past history.
Do Not Sell My Info (California): We do not sell personal information.
6. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for individuals under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Given the extreme physical nature of "Backyard Ultra" events, the target audience is adult athletes.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our code or legal requirements. We will notify you of significant changes via an in-app notice or by updating the "Last Updated" date above.
